Arranging for an LTL or Truck Load Delivery to Amazon
Pallets and Pallet Label Requirements
IMPORTANT: Failure to comply with FBA product preparation requirements, safety requirements and product restrictions may result in the refusal of inventory at the Amazon fulfilment centre, disposal or return of inventory, blocking of future shipments to the fulfilment centre, or charging for preparation or for non-compliance at the fulfilment centre. Please share these requirements with your carrier or supplier to ensure that they are fully understood and adhered to.
All non-small parcel
shipments must be palletised. Pallets need to have these measurements: 1200mm x
1000mm. Other pallet sizes will be rejected.
Floor-loaded
shipments are unacceptable unless authorised in advance by Amazon. Unauthorised
floor-loaded shipments may be subject to refusal at the dock, return to the
Merchant at the Merchant's expense, and/or applicable non-compliance fees.
Each pallet must be labelled with the Vendor Name, To and From
address, PO numbers, Number of cartons, Pallet #____ of
_____pallets in the upper right corner of one of the sides of
the unitised load so that it is easily visually located.
All pallets must contain like items when quantities
allow. All pallets of mixed but visually similar product must be
labelled 'mixed merchandise' or 'mixed SKUs' (for example,
regular and wide-screen editions of a VHS or DVD that are
packaged in similar-looking cartons).
All pallets must
be stretch-wrapped in plastic with a 'do not break stretchwrap'
or 'do not break down' notification to the carrier.
Pallets
must be standard four-way access pallets of 1200mm x 1000mm.
Pallet
exchange is not available.
Broken or damaged pallets
are not acceptable and may be rejected at the Merchant's
expense.
Pallets must not exceed 1.5m in height when
single-stacked, (including the height of the pallet).
Cartons
on pallets should not exceed 15kg. If an individual sellable
unit weighs more than 15kg, it should be clearly marked as
"Heavy Weight" and this marking should be viewable from both the
top and sides of the container.
Total weight of a
pallet must not exceed 1000kg.
Merchandise must not
overhang the pallet edge by more than 25mm.
All carton
deliveries that are half a pallet or more must be palletised and
require a booking slot. There must be a minimum of 30cm
clearance between the top of the pallets and the roof of the
vehicle, and a minimum of 30cm clearance between the back of the
last pallet and the rear of the vehicle.
Bill of Lading
When there are two or more orders shipping from the same pick-up location to the same Amazon fulfilment centre and the required delivery date is the same, consolidate orders into one shipment with one Bill of Lading.
Bill of Lading must reference all Amazon Reference IDs (POs) contained in the shipment. Amazon Reference IDs are found on the 'View an Existing Shipment' page.
Bill of Lading must include carton and pallet quantities per shipment.
Whenever possible, the Merchant should include the Bill of Lading number on the carton or pallet label. This allows for quick freight verification upon delivery at an Amazon fulfilment centre.
It is important to mention the complete weight of the boxes included in the shipment.
If shipping other customers' orders to an Amazon fulfilment centre, a separate Bill of Lading must be created. Do not combine Amazon and other customers' orders in the same shipment.
Original Bill of Lading information must be made available to the carrier in order for the carrier to arrange advanced delivery appointment.
Vehicle Requirements
Palletised deliveries must be made on a vehicle that is able to reverse up to
our loading bay door and allow PPT access to the rear of the vehicle.
Parcels must be delivered using a courier service. Private
vehicles will not be admitted to the fulfilment centres for
deliveries.
It is the driver's responsibility to ensure that the vehicle
is clear of any obstructions that might cause a health or safety
issue or damage to any Amazon equipment being used to unload the
vehicle. Failure to do so may render the carrier liable to any
repairs to any Amazon equipment that is damaged by these
obstructions.
Common Reasons for Delivery Rejections
Incorrect type of vehicle (does not allow access to PPT from the dock)
No booking scheduled
Single appointment for multiple vehicles
Early or late delivery
Cannot access the stock due to non-Amazon stock blocking access
Unsafe vehicle or unsafe pallet
Freight that has been tampered with
Damaged freight
No delivery paperwork
Inaccessible pallets (no access from the dock)
Vehicles that do not allow Amazon to offload stock from the rear of the vehicle
Exceeding the quantity booked in the appointment
