Remove inventory automatically

You can set up automatic removals for your inventory at Amazon fulfilment centres. For more information about the removal orders process, please go to Remove inventory (overview).

You can enable removals for unsellable inventory, for inventory subject to long term storage fees, or for both types of inventory.

Removal fees are charged per item removed. For more information, please go to FBA removal order fees.

Remove unsellable inventory automatically

When inventory in an Amazon fulfilment centre is not in sellable condition, the status is changed to Unfulfillable and that inventory is set aside. Amazon holds unsellable inventory for 30 days within which you are required to remove such inventory from the fulfilment centres. If you do not remove these units or inventory before the completion of 30 days, then Amazon may dispose of such inventory or item. Please go to Automated disposal orders for more information. You can remove unsellable inventory at any time by submitting a removal order. For more information, please go to Remove inventory from a fulfilment centre.

You can also choose to have unsellable inventory returned to you automatically by enabling the service in your seller account.

You agree and acknowledge that the Automated Unsellable Removal (AUR) is enabled by default on your account and the frequency is set to “Weekly” for all sellers.

To enable this service in your seller account, please follow these steps:


  1. Under Settings, click Fulfilment by Amazon.
  2. In the Fulfilment by Amazon Settings page, find Automated Unfulfillable Removal Settings and click Edit.
  3. In the Automated Unfulfillable Removal Settings page, click Enable.
  4. Scroll down and click Return option.
  5. Under Schedule, select your preferred schedule from the drop-down.
  6. Enter your E-mail ID in Notification E-mail.
  7. Select an address for creating Automated Unfulfillable Removals through one of the following ways:
    • To set a primary address, click Set a primary address to navigate to the Address Book page.
      Note: The primary address will be used for creating Automated Unfulfillable Removals for fulfilment centres wherein you have not configured any removal address. If the address that you prefer is displayed on the Address Book page, then click the corresponding Shipping address button. If not, then you can enter a new address.
      Tip: Save time by entering the phone number in the Address Book and double-check for typos and other errors in the address.
    • To set the address by fulfilment centre, select the Set address by FC drop-down that has the list of the fulfilment centres in which you are registered. Mouseover the fulfilment centre to set the address from the Address Book. This overrides the primary address for the selected fulfilment centre.
  8. PIN code serviceability check is integrated for both primary address and address by fulfilment centre. For more information, please go to Vendor return PIN code serviceability check.
  9. Click Update.
Note: Currently, lost inventory is not eligible for removal.

To disable Automated Unsellable Removal service in your seller account, please follow these steps:


  1. Under Settings, click Fulfilment by Amazon.
  2. In the Fulfilment by Amazon Settings page, find Automated Unfulfillable Removal Settings and click Edit.
  3. In the Automated Unfulfillable Removal Settings page, select Disable and click Update.
Note: Currently lost or warehouse-damaged units are not eligible for removal.
Note: In order to understand the number of unsellable units available against your products, we request you to go to Reports and click Fulfilment by Amazon, and then download Amazon Fulfilled Inventory report.

Remove inventory subject to a long term storage fee automatically

The Long Term Storage Fee (LTSF) is enabled by default on your account and removal orders will be created within one to two weeks after the last date of each month. For more information on Long Term Storage Fee (LTSF), please go to FBA Long-Term Storage.

You can choose to have inventory that is subject to a long term storage fee removed automatically. You may remove all inventory subject to the fee or select a price range to determine which items are returned to you. You can also choose to keep inventory priced above a certain amount in the fulfilment centre and pay the long term storage fees for those items only, and have the rest returned to you.

To enable this service in your seller account, please follow these steps:


  1. Under Settings, click Fulfilment by Amazon.
  2. In the Fulfilment by Amazon Settings page, find Automated Long-Term Storage Removals Settings and click Edit.
  3. In the Automated Long-Term Storage Removals Settings page, click Enable and select one of the following:
    • Return all inventory subject to long term storage fees.
    • Set price guidelines for inventory to be returned.
  4. Enter your E-mail ID in Notification E-mail.

If you selected Set price guidelines for inventory to be returned, then please follow these steps:


  1. In Return price guidelines, enter the highest value for the inventory which you want to be returned to you.
    Note: Inventory eligible for Long Term Storage Fee, which are priced above the highest value that you have listed in the Return price guidelines will remain in inventory and will be charged a Long Term Storage Fee.
  2. Select an address for creating Automated Unfulfillable Removals through one of the following ways:
    • To set a primary address, click Set a primary address to navigate to the Address Book page.
      Note: The primary address will be used for creating Automated Unfulfillable Removals for fulfilment centres wherein you have not configured any removal address. If the address that you prefer is displayed on the Address Book page, then click the corresponding Shipping address button. If not, then you can enter a new address.
      Tip: Save time by entering the phone number in the Address Book and double-check for typos and other errors in the address.
    • To set the address by fulfilment centre, select the Set address by FC drop-down that has the list of the fulfilment centres in which you are registered.   4. Click Update.

To disable automated Long-Term Storage Removal service in your seller account, please follow these steps:

  1. Under Settings, click Fulfilment by Amazon.
  2. In the Fulfilment by Amazon Settings page, find Automated Long-Term Storage Removals Settings and click Edit.
  3. In the Automated Long-Term Storage Removals Settings page, select Disable and click Update.
