The Amazon classification system uses values supplied by sellers to
determine where products appear in the Amazon catalog. If this information is missing or
incorrect, customers will have a difficult time finding, comparing, and purchasing your
products. This could impact your sales on Amazon.
The Product Classifier tool can help you to identify the
appropriate category and filter criteria for the product. The steps for using the
Product Classifier tool to select the correct classification include:
The steps for using the Product Classifier tool to select the correct
classification are:

Select your product's classification using
the browse or search options, and download files containing the values required to
classify your products.

Download the Inventory File Template
identified in the Product Classifier file.

Enter the values from the Product
Classifier file and other related data into the Inventory File Template or the XML
files.
To identify the appropriate classifications for your products, use the
"Browse" or "Search" methods in the Product Classifier tool:

Select the store in which your product
belongs.

Continue to narrow the classification
options until the Select button appears.

Click Select to add the
classification to your list.
-
Repeat the process to classify all of your
products.
-
Click Download List, and save
the file.
Search
-
Type a keyword into the Search box.

Click the "+" (plus) sign to the left of
the category name to select classifications for your products.

Repeat the process to classify all of your
products.
-
Click Download List, and save
the file.
To identify the correct Inventory File
Template:
-
Open the Product Classifier file and
identify the inventory file template for your products by reviewing the suggestions
in the Inventory Template
Name column.

Go to Inventory File Templates, and
download and save the inventory file or files. You can use more than one inventory
file.
Note: For sellers using XML feeds: you can use
an
XML
upload.
Populate the classification and
refinement fields
To add your selected classifications
and refinements to your inventory file template files:

Classification
-
Open the Product Classifier file,
and scroll to the Category column (which includes " Category " , " Node ID "
and " Node Path ".

Determine the product's category
field.
-
Identify these same fields in your
Inventory File Template. Note: The "Node ID" in the product category files and
the "Recommended Browse Node" in the Inventory File Template and the XML file
are corresponding attributes.

Copy the Valid Values from the
Product Classifier file into the corresponding cell in the inventory file
template for the product you are listing.

Repeat this process for all of the
products you are listing.

Refinement
-
Open the Product Classifier file, and
scroll to the Refinements columns: Refinement Name,
Refinement
Field, Valid Values, and Modifier.

Identify the Refinement Field
for one of the products you are listing.

Identify these same fields in your
inventory file template.
-
Copy the Valid Values from the
Product Classifier file into the corresponding cell in the inventory file
template for the product you are listing.

Repeat this process for all of the
products you are listing.

Provide offers and other information in
your inventory file.

Save your inventory file template.

Go to
Inventory
> Add Products via
Upload
on Seller Central.

In the "Upload inventory files" drop-down
menu, select the type of file to upload.

Click "Browse" to locate your inventory
file.

Click " Upload Now" to upload your
inventory file.
Note:
Sellers are required to provide a "Recommended Browse Node" for all your products in
the Inventory File Template or XML file.

Inventory File Template: The "Node ID"
obtained from the Product Classifier or Browse Tree Guides should be entered into
the "Recommended Browse Node" column in the inventory file template.

XML Files: The "Node ID" obtained from
the Product Classifier or Browse Tree Guides should be entered into the
"Recommended Browse Node" attribute in the XML files.
