Smoke Detectors/Smoke Alarms/Carbon Monoxide Alarms/Smoke Mask

Due to customer safety concerns, smoke detectors and smoke alarms sold on Amazon India should be certified or tested as per the specific BIS quality or UL quality and performance standards as mentioned in the below table.

In order to sell Smoke Alarms, Smoke Detectors, Carbon-Monoxide Alarms, Smoke Masks on Amazon India, you must apply and submit the following information to Email ID: in-life-safety-equipment@amazon.in.


  1. Company name
  2. Seller ID
  3. Email Address
  4. Phone number
  5. A list of ASINs you are applying to sell
  6. If you are a reseller of these products, a letter from the manufacturer demonstrating that you are an authorized reseller.
  7. Image of the model number displaying on the product or Label displaying on the product.
  8. For each Products/ASIN, documents from a NABL Accredited Laboratories showing compliance with the standard listed in the table below:

Fire and Other Safety Product Definitions:

Smoke alarms: Smoke alarms issue a local audible or visual alarm to notify the presence of smoke as an indicator of fire. These products are typically found in homes.


Smoke detectors: Smoke detectors issue a signal to a fire alarm control panel, as part of a larger fire safety system, to notify the presence of smoke as an indicator of fire. These products are typically found in commercial environments.


Carbon Monoxide alarms: Carbon Monoxide alarms are intended to raise a local audible alarm before dangerous levels of Carbon Monoxide accumulate. Carbon Monoxide alarms are intended to detect the presence of Carbon Monoxide from sources such as, but not limited to, exhaust from internal-combustion engines, abnormal operation of fuel-fired appliances, and fireplaces.


Smoke Masks: Fire and smoke masks are air-purifying Respiratory-Protective Smoke Escape Devices (RPEDs). It includes air-purifying respirators that protect a person from a fire by removing harmful contaminants from the inhaled air. Such products may use a filter, cartridge, canister, sorbent, or catalyst; or a combination of these items, to remove such contaminants.
