Update composite attributes

Attributes such as footwear size and nutritional composition are composite in nature, and hence they are a combination of multiple interdependent attributes. Such attributes cannot be updated partially or individually. If you want to update one of the values against these attributes, then you must perform a partial update against all the interdependent attributes irrespective of whether or not you are changing values for all of them.

For example, the attribute footwear size is a combination of the following attributes:

  • Age Range Description
  • Footwear Size System
  • Shoe Size Age Group
  • Shoe Size Gender
  • Shoe Size Class
  • Shoe Size Width
  • Shoe Size

To change the size of a product, you must update the Shoe size value. However, if you update a value such as Shoe size age group, then make sure you update all the related fields. For more information about the valid combinations, go to Shoe Size Standards.

Example 1 – Update shoe size

Update shoe size via bulk templates: To change the Shoe Size of a product from 5 UK to 6 UK, perform partial update that impacts all the relevant attributes such as Age range description in the below table:
