FBA Light Touch Protective Prep services

In this section you can learn about the FBA Light Touch Protective Prep services, which allows Amazon to prep your eligible customer returns to be sold as new.

This service provides you with an opportunity to enable more returns to be sellable when the products are in pristine condition and require certain light touch protective prep services before they can be sold as new. These services include minor cleaning, poly-bagging, bubble-wrapping and/or box prepping. While prepping, the product’s primary packaging is not altered.

Not all products are eligible for FBA Light Touch Protective Prep services and these services aren’t available in every fulfilment centre. While we want to expand to all FCs these services are currently available only in a few FCs. We are going to carry out light touch protective prep services on your behalf for all your eligible products (refer FAQ section for more details) across all brands within the eligible Amazon fulfilment centres.

Note: To opt out at any point of timeyou can change your settings by going to Fulfilment by Amazon>Light Touch Protective Prep Services Settings. If you choose to opt out, the customer returned products which may otherwise be prepped will not be prepped and will instead be moved to your unsellable inventory without any further action from our end and require removal or disposal at your expense. For more details on the program, refer to the FAQ below.

Product eligibility

For eligible categories, your account is enabled by default for FBA Light Touch Protective Prep services. You can choose the product categories that you would like to opt out from. As additional categories are enabled for this service, you will be auto-enroled for those categories. You can choose to disable auto-enrollment and receive notifications using the FBA Settings page when new categories are launched.

Return policy for products under FBA Light Touch Protective Prep services

What do the light touch protective prep services entail?

Light touch protective prep services entails minor cleaning, poly-bagging, bubble-wrapping and box prepping on your products in eligible categories (Refer to 'What categories are currently eligible for this service?' question on this page). To ensure that the products are in the condition of receipt and do not become unsellable due to worn-out boxes, dust or lack of protective covering.

Is this service performed on all products?

Not all products are eligible for FBA Light Touch Protective Prep services. The service is offered only when the product is in pristine condition. The products primary packaging is not altered while prepping the product.

What is the fee charged for this service?

Currently, this service is being offered free of cost. An advance notice will be sent to you and your consent will be obtained when this service is made chargeable in future.

How can I opt in for this service?

All your eligible products under the launched categories are enabled by default for this service. No additional action is expected from you for opting into the service.

Do I have the option to opt out of this service?

Yes. This is an additional service offered to you and you can opt out at any point by going to Fulfilment by Amazon>Light Touch Protective Prep Services Settings.

Status of your customer returns

You can view the status of your customer returns in your Returns Report within the Customer Concessions reports section.
