Amazon's policy on selling self-ballasted LED lamps, LED drivers, street lights, flood lights, self-ballasted CFL lamp in India

Government of India (GOI) has notified that the sale of the below products are to be safety tested and certified under BIS Compulsory Certification scheme (ISI Mark Scheme or CRS Scheme):

  • Self-ballasted LED lamps

Amazon’s safety policy on selling these products

As a seller of the below listed lighting products in India, Amazon's policy requires safety information and documentation to confirm that your products meet the applicable Indian safety standards. The Bureau of Indian Standards has issued guidelines on how to comply with these requirements. Upon request, you must promptly submit the required safety documentation:

Required documents

  • Certificate issued by BIS under Compulsory Certification scheme (ISI mark or CRS scheme)
  • Product and marking label images with clear model number, Brand or manufacturer details, and BIS safety mark with licence number, or R number

How do I submit the required documents or information for approval?

If you receive a request from us for compliance documents, complete the following steps to submit the requested information:

  1. In Seller Central, select the Performance tab and choose Account Health.
  2. Under Manage your compliance in the bottom right corner, click Product Compliance Requests.
  3. To add compliance or appeal for a single product, click Add/Appeal Compliance. To add compliance or appeal for multiple products, select each product on the left hand side of the product and click Action Selected Products at the top of the product requirement table to make a selection about how you would like to submit documents and information.
  4. Provide compliance documents and information in the Provide Documents section, or provide appeal information and documents in the Appeal Request section.
  5. Click Submit for Approval to send your submission for review by Amazon.

Note: You must certify that all the materials that you submit are true, authentic and accurate. Amazon may remove your selling privileges for failing to meet these safety requirements. The detail page must contain images which confirm that the product is or the products are the same as the product or products included in the images in the test reports.

Consequences of policy violations

Violations of Amazon's policies for selling Lighting products in India may result in, but may not be limited to, the following actions:

  • Cancellation of the listing
  • Suspension of selling privileges
  • Cancellation of selling privileges
