Forced shipping within 24 hours?
Greetings
We have individually set every ASIN for 2-3 days handling time. Last night, an order came in at 9 pm (after we're closed) and we woke up to notification that this must be shipped today to avoid late shipping.
Why is this happening? We have taken the time to individually adjust each ASIN.

Hi @Seller_ir2sdQjTkfjTh,
Dominic from Amazon here, want to provide some additional information. This may be due to automated handling time.
If your account has automated handling time enabled, your handling time and order handling capacity is set automatically based on your historic performance for each SKU. This setting allows customers to see a more accurate delivery date, which is typically shorter and usually results in more sales.
For more information, go to Modify order handling capacity.

Dominic

I didn't enable auto handling time. In fact, I did what Amazon advised and I changed every ASIN to 2 days handling, and I was auto-enrolled after the fact, anyway.
We can't give accurate delivery dates, because USPS isn't delivering with any consistency. If I put "1-day handling time" it doesn't make USPS get the Priority package to the buyer any faster. Priority Mail is taking 14+ days right now. My handling time won't fix this.

Hi @Seller_ir2sdQjTkfjTh,
I believe this is tied to a recent announcement we posted in Seller News. New updates to our on-time delivery policy and shipping settings
Handling time settings: On September 25, 2024, to help improve the accuracy of handling time, we'll enable automated handling time for sellers that have a manually configured handling time that is two or more days slower than their actual handling time (also known as a handling time gap). To see your handling time gap, review your Fulfillment Insight dashboard.

Dominic

Why?
Why is Amazon deciding for sellers when the seller can get the order into the mail? Just because I was able to ship faster last month, doesn't mean I will be able to ship faster this month.
Amazon would rather I hold all their orders until the last possible mailing date?

Hi @Seller_ir2sdQjTkfjTh,
We designed these tools to set accurate delivery dates, reduce late deliveries, and meet or exceed the minimum OTDR requirement when used together, and because Amazon is making calculations on your behalf that affect OTDR, you will get OTDR protection from late deliveries on items shipped through Standard Shipping if you use all three tools.
On top of getting OTDR protection, using Shipping Settings Automation (SSA) sets accurate delivery dates through automated Transit Times calculations of your preferred ship methods, and using Automated Handling Time (AHT) , sets accurate Handling Times per SKU based on how long it usually takes you to pass each SKU to carriers. Plus, if you use AHT you get Late Shipment Rate (LSR) protection.

Dominic

Well the system isn't working very well. Right now, my OTDR timeframe is August 6-August 19 and I'm still being penalized for an order that was delivered August 1.
I submitted a case 15881611691 asking why, and the bots just keep explaining that this package was delivered late, on August 1.
I ask why a package delivered August 1 still counts against my OTDR for August 6-19 and I just get copypasta.
@Dominic_Amazon do you have any idea why this might be happening?

That's the late order that's messing up my OTDR. Why?
What is the point of buying shipping from Amazon and automating everything if we're penalized for weeks beyond the OTDR date.

Hi @Seller_ir2sdQjTkfjTh,
This will all go into effect on 9/25. If these issues are still occurring when the time comes please reach back out.
Best,
Dominic

@Dominic_Amazonthat didn't answer my question, though. I wasn't asking when it will go into effect, I was asking why I was still being penalized.

Hi @Seller_ir2sdQjTkfjTh,
The reason why this order went against your OTDR is because the order was delivered late. I reviewed the case you provided me and I reviewed the order. The latest it could have been delivered was July 30th and it was delivered on Aug 1st.
Your Seller Fulfilled Prime performance metrics will now include your on-time delivery performance with and without promise extensions. This change will help you understand the extent to which those extensions are and have been necessary to meet on-time delivery standards. Previously, only on-time delivery with promise extensions was included.

Why did an order that was delivered August 1 continue to count against my OTDR through the August 6-19 timeframe. That is what I'm asking. I understand late packages count against OTDR. I do not understand why they continue to count against OTDR for a full week past the OTDR timeframe (in this case, when the OTDR timeframe switched to August 2 as the start date, why did this August 1 late package continue to count against my OTDR for a full week?)

Amazon auto enrolled a lot of folk at some point. We were auto enrolled too several months back. They told us we did it which is absolutely not true as I'm the only one with access and hadn't touched shipping settings in months. Their system did it. The representative got into an argument with me about it. I warned him to not call me a liar(indirectly) as that is one thing in this world that will P me off big time. Support just doesn't understand how disrespectful they're being at times. I suggest you not get upset, sit back, think it over and make adjustments if needed and just wait. You lose sales? eh, you lose sales. Wait for the inbound OTDR rules to kick in. If you have issues now, good luck with that.
