UPC code not accepted

Has anyone had an issues with UPC codes they have purchased online not being accepted by Amazon? They rely on the GS1 database but I have bought them from UPCs.com who have purchased them from the owner but apparantly the GS1 database is not maintained.

Amazon seller support are not helpful and I have now been accused of thinking I am above policy!

As far as I know Amazon will ONLY accept barcodes purchased directly from GS1 and no other reseller.

The barcodes you supply to Amazon must be under your name in the GS1 database.

All Amazon does is automatically search your barcode on the GS1 website. If your company name is not in the "prefix" section of that specific barcode, they will close or reject that listing.

You can check your prefixes by just going onto GS1 and pressing Search Barcode, and it will tell you who the barcode actually belongs to.

amazon only accept barcodes linked to a valid GS1 membership.

The upc.com codes are useless.

Hi @Seller_28FL91q1NmdTk,

I'm Kai, community managers here on the seller forums. I understand you're dealing with UPC code.

Please obtain your product identifier directly from GS1 (and not from other third parties selling EAN and UPC licences) to ensure that the appropriate information is reflected in the GS1 database.

For more information on licensing EANs and UPCs from GS1, refer to the GS1 website.

Could you also share your case ID regarding the support interaction? I'd like to review details.

Best,

Kai
