What steps to take to get generic listing to branded listing

Hi all

I am new to selling on Amazon and made a silly mistake I'm am hoping for some advise on what steps i need to undertake to rectify it.

I have raised many requests with Amazon for support but unfortunately keep getting their templated responses, so am hoping for some advise here please.

Before I did brand registry, I stupidly created a Generic listing, had my ASIN (which is also my SKU) printed directly onto my boxes and now have alot of my items in the FBA warehouses.

I need my listing to have my Brand on it (product hasn't changed at all but I understand Amazon see's it as a new product), but they have told me I need to create a new ASIN (listing) to enable this. (I am the brand own and have brand registry)

My listing is linked to my products GS1 barcode, so my questions are: - do I need to purchase a new GS1 barcode, then create a new listing with this new barcode, therefore giving me a new ASIN, then get barcodes printed and request Amazon to stick the new barcode on my products that are in the warehouses?

If this is correct, how will my inventory move over to the new ASIN?

Yes, this was a mistake, and it is good that you recognized it. Hopefully other new sellers can also learn from this.

First, make sure your sellable inventory is set at ZERO.

Make a recall on the inventory already at FBA. Your generic listing will be dead, so a new listing with a new UPC will be necessary to list the new product.

This type of mistake is what Amazon frowns upon, because it creates a catalogue page problem with nothing sold under it.
