30 day return policy a big loss for sellers
I had recently started selling sunglasses on Amazon India. Earlier when I was shipping products myself I felt better as a counple of months agao the return policy of Amazon was not such as it is today.
Today I am suffering huge losses due to the buyers returning sunglasses after using them for more than 15-20 days. BECAUSE THE NEW RETURN POLICY OF AMAZON INDIA OFFERS FREE RETURN OF EYEWEAR / SUNGLASSES WITHOUT ANY REASON FROM BUYER !!!
I think there would be many sellers in this segment of eyewear & sunglasses who also would be suffering from this 30 day return policy which was earlier 10 days & Amazon did not accept returns without any reason. BUT NOW ITS LIKE THE WORST TIME BEING EXPERIENCED ON AMAZON with 30 day no reason asked return policy for this category!!!
I am experiencing same product being shipped by Amazon (Prime) more than 3 times & being returned by several customers after 10 , 12 , & even 20 days. If the product is nor right, why would cant the customer simple return on next day ? Why does he use the item for 20 days & after that Amazon easily accepts the return ??? WHAT SHOULD WE SELLERS DO FOR SUCH LOSSY POLICIES ??? Is it the time to quit Amazon & focus on other marketplaces ?
Hope that someone from Amazon sees this & suggests or makes change in return policies !!!

they surely won’t change this policy, rather extend it I’m afraid! jewellery, sunglasses, books,CDs etc…you can enjoy them, use them, wear them, read them and then send them back for free. Even worse you can pretend you didn’t get your product, get your money back and keep the product or even receive another one …This is amazon and of course customers take advantage of it ! And poor sellers can’t do anything to be protected against such rules. Unfair, illegal, and encourages dishonest buyers . Everyday sellers complain on this forum but amazon gets more and more buyers, more and more money…

With any return, the conditions for return are that they are in the same condition as sent and unused, so if supplied with tags that need cut off to wear, then insist that tags are present for a change of mind return, then build the cost of returns into your pricing.
If selling FBA, then as Amazon will not check returns, you would need to have a notice included with the product that the glasses may only be returned if the tags remain intact, which may put some off from returning after removing the tags?
The unknown is if this free return policy will increase your sales and does this increase offset the increase in the cost of returns, or do you build extra into the pricing to absorb the extra cost?

I recently got registered in Amazon to sell my own Watches. After seeing the 30 days return policy and reading this forum, I have decided to drop my plan to sell in Amazon, unless they reduce the period to a reasonable 10 days like Flipkart. Since the commission and fees of Amazon are much more than others, it is not possible to increase your margin as you become uncompetitive and loose business.
It is obvious, that being a Market Leader,
Amazon is only interested in increasing it’s sale.They don’t care for the Sellers.

I simply dont understand that when a customer returns a product on Amazon for whatsoever reason, why does Amazon charge a marketplace fee on such returns ? After all these orders will be sold again after return to some other customer & Amazon will earn marketplace commission on it. Means : Sale Amount = 0 but commission earned is full by Amazon for 0 sale value actually !!! And if a product is returned many times then same commission amount will be earned several times by Amazon on 0 sale values !!! What is this logic ? Commission only should be deducted when a sale is done successfully & item not returned !

When an item is not delivered then too they charge the shipping cost on Amazon fulfilled orders … Either add shipping fee on amazon prime orders too so that sellers dont have to bear loss of fake orders … THis is just a way of demoting sellers due to fake buyers … Which buyer just wants to have his money deducted for orders that are not delivered & waste packaging cost too after returns ! Flipkart has recently adopted policy of charging “0” to sellers for orders which are not delivered ! At least plz adopt that much for sellers so that sellers dont have to bear loss of undelivered orders due to fake buyers…

Because returns can never be just thought of as sole seller fault … There is a huge bunch of buyers online who just order for fun & still return order even if everything in order delivered was as in description …
IF AMAZON IS ALLOWING 30 DAY FREE RETURNS & NO QUESTIONS ASKED TO BUYER !!! …THEN SELLERS SHOULD ALSO BE OFFERED … 30 DAYS FREE RETURN WITH NO SELLER FEES DEDUCTED !!!

Why is Amazon promoting its 30 DAYS FREE RETURNS POLICY on the cost of SELLERS money ??? If they actually want to promote such policies they should bear its loss !!!
Its just luring customers on its free returns policy on the cost of seller’s money & causing them huge loss !!!
Why does it not behave as a neutral entity in such case ? Either in first place dont offer such return policy OR dont charge sellers for returns OR take these charges to yourself if still wish to promote such free returns policy !!!

Already sellers bear loss of packaging on returns & undelivered orders especially with low profits on Prime, because if we dont sell on Prime then there is no product visibility. Its just becoming like a trap that first you will have to go into Prime … and then be ready for undelivered orders … returns … which increases suddenly after opting in Prime … why do you guys want to destroy & loose your long term genuine sellers who are here to earn profit & not go into losses ?
When you guys launch so many policies in favor of buyers, can’t you just do this 1 policy in favor of SELLERS to protect & cover them FROM UN-WANTED LOSSES ?

The 30 days return policy is one of the most destructive and worst policy , people take undue leverage of it and do lot of fraud , many times to justify their fraud returns , buyer even make fake complaint of the product being inauthentic ,after purchasing and using the product for 15 to 20 days , and Amazon without any investigation simply suspends the seller account
