"A GTIN exemption is required" even after I got the GTIN exemption approval
I was trying to list a new product on Amazon. It's a generic product and I checked "I don't have a Product ID" checkbox. After I filled out all the information about the product. The Product Identity page showed "A GTIN exemption is required.". There is a "Apply Now" link just after this error. I applied and got approved immediately due to it's a generic product. But things got weird then, even after I got the approval. I could not list the product at all. Tried to call the Amazon Associate many times but still stuck there. I tried as suggested by different people:
1. wait for whole day to list the product after the approval
2. delete all my drafts and start over
3. list by the link on the GTIN approval page
But nothing worked.. I was told by the associate that he transferred my needs to GTIN team and I will get notified. But till now, nobody contacted me. Not even an email.
My case ID is: 15938327541.
Anyone had the similar issue?

Art you trying to lost your own branded product? Are you trying to list a generic product?
While Amazon touts how easy it is to get an exemption, it isn't. Buying the GS1 UPS is much easier. Amazon is going to want you to establish a brand name, Then Amazon will want you to get approved to sell in the category in which the product falls. and then, Amazon will want to approve the actual product that you will be selling. Each of those 3 approvals is handled by a different team.

Hello @Seller_m0MzAt3ghZqFp- and thanks for joining us here on the seller forums!
I do know that it can take some time for a GTIN Exemption to populate across all systems, so you may have better luck adding the product now, a couple days following. You may also wish to review the following section of the GTIN Exemption help page, which includes a couple "Things to remember": I've bolded the option that may apply here!
- "After you have applied for a GTIN exemption, check the status of your request in your case log.
- Once you receive a GTIN exemption, wait 30 minutes before adding your product in the same way you would while listing with a GTIN. Our system will identify the GTIN exemption and allow you to proceed without a GTIN (product ID).
- In certain cases, category-level approvals may be required in addition to GTIN exemption approvals to start listing products on Seller Central. In case you are unable to list products using an approved GTIN exemption, we recommend that you check if you are already approved to list in that particular category. If you do not have this approval already, go to Overview of categories for more information on category-level approvals and apply accordingly.
- For the exemption to work, be sure to enter the Category and Brand/Publisher name exactly as they appear in your exemption approval notice. If you use a different case or insert additional characters or spaces, the system will not recognize your exemption.
- After approval, you can leave Product ID and Product ID Type columns blank.
- You can re-apply for an exemption in case you have taken a GTIN exemption under an incorrect brand name or category.
- A GTIN exemption is only given to list products without a product ID. You may be required to obtain additional brand approval to list your products.
- You will have to apply for the GTIN exemption each time you want to list under a different brand or category."
Can you confirm if you already have the needed category-level approval for the category the item for which you have a GTIN exemption falls into?
Thanks!
-Danny
