My trademark is malicious squatting domain name, threatening high price to redeem what should I do?

We have completed the registration of trademark R for the brand, and now the domain name is malicious registered by others. Now we receive an email asking us to buy back the domain name at a high price, otherwise we will complain about infringement and remove the product. How should we deal with this situation? Urgent need for help, please reply, thank you!

You seem to be mixing apples, oranges and perhaps kumquats.

When you say "We have completed the registration of trademark R for the brand" do you mean that you have just FILED for a TM OR do you mean that you have been GRANTED a TM and you have the registration number?

THAT part of the equation is the ONLY part of your post that applies to Amazon and for Brand Registry.

When you say that someone is asking you to" buy back the domain name at a high price" a DOMAIN NAME quite literally has NOTHING to do with Amazon or selling on Amazon.

As long as YOU have the GRANTED TM for the brand all you have to do for Amazon is prove that you are the owner of the TM.

As to the DOMAIN NAME, if you want to set up a store using it you may have some issues. I'm NOT an attorney BUT if you own the brands name (TM) your attorney MIGHT find some grounds to go after the other company but it sounds like you should have done the domain name first and the TM at the same time or second.

There was a time in the wild west days of early internet that people (and companies) searched the internet for names of known companies and bought the domain rights with the intent of selling them for a profit.

It could be that the OP has stumbled into this issue. It will be a negotiation driven issue should the OP wish to proceed with or without his lawyer.

I would suggest consulting with the attorney who helped with your trademark; there are rules regarding domain names, and if you act quickly enough (and save all those threatening e-mails; give copies to the lawyer), you should be able to regain control of a domain name that matches your registered trademark.

Your lawyer should know the details; this is not something new.

I wrote wrong, my trademark is R mark, and now people have stolen the brand's domain name and made a simple independent station, in order to blackmail me to buy back the domain name at a high price.

Hello @Seller_3lkt4WnA9O3cq,

My name is Dougal from the Community Manager Team and I am sorry to read about your experience with a domain name dispute. I found that you have been enrolled in Brand Registry since November of last year and that your Trademark has been registered since 2021. Unfortunately, I cannot assist with a domain name dispute and agree with @Seller_kIukTwdhvntAp, @Seller_EkbLZUYSpmJEy, and @Seller_nRFmxiQg4EGrwthat consulting a lawyer might be best.

I wish you the best with this unfortunate situation.

Best,

Dougal
