New Listing Ranking: Date listed or date it becomes available?

Very simple question here: When I list a new product for FBA, does the new listing begin it's ranking metrics from the date it is listed or from the date the products become available for purchase in the FBA system?

You can't ship inventory without making a listing and often inventory shipments to FBA can take weeks to be available in the system. I just don't want that period of time between the listing creation and the date available to count negatively towards the product launch.

Thanks for any advice.

Greetings @Seller_SefsMK2nqWhwX,

Sales rank is always about the present sales history. The sales rank only reflects sold units, so as the product starts to sell the product will go up in sales rank (relative to other products). As a new product will have 0 sales, it will always start at a lower position in the sales rank relative to product that have current sales. However, the delay between the creation of the listing/ASIN and the availability at the Fulfillment Center should have no impact on a product with no Sales History. You can't have fewer sales than 0! Everyone starts there!

Once your product is available and starts selling it shouldn't have any impact on the rank if you start today or a month from now. However, any loss of availability may impact the rank as units aren't selling, so it is important to ensure that your product remains available by sending in appropriate inventory and fulfilling yourself if possible to prevent any gaps in availability.

Hope this addresses your concern. Let me know if you have any other questions.
