Vat exemption withdrawn

My account was VAT EXEMPTED. Now my exemption has been withdrawn saying i donot meet the terms and conditions. But i do meet all the terms and conditions i opened so many cases but they keep saying its internal alogrithm which decides who is eligible or not anymore.

Could anyone help in this scenario?

Are you talking about VAT on fees or having Amazon issue invoices on your behalf?

Declaring your VAT exempt status (as we could do in the past) is now irrelevant, as we ALL now pay VAT on fees, even if you are not VAT registered.

As others have said declaring yourself VAT exempt is largely irrelevant now since Amazon started issuing fee invoices from UK and not from Luxembourg. This was a loophole on them having to apply VAT on fees which has now been closed.

The only reason I can think of now for declaring VAT exemption is if you want Amazon to issue payment receipts on your behalf to business customers. If this is the case then you need find out why you are not meeting the terms and conditions. What is your turnover? Are you UK based and if so have you submitted the required documents proving you are established in UK?

Be careful in any wording you are putting in these documents you are generating.

An INVOICE is usually for VAT - it will show the amount of VAT you charged, your VAT number, your name /address and customer name/address

As you say you not eligible for VAT registration then you actually need to supply a RECEIPT not an invoice - this just needs show amount charged (although you could add your name/address and customer name/address it is not required). It should not make any mention of VAT.

Also - you only need generate a receipt for business customers not general customers. There are free receipt generation tools out there you could use. With a £20k turnover and not having to upload a receipt for every order (only for business customers) you should be able to manage.

But if not follow the link by JillyB to get Amazon to generate your receipts for you. If you cannot get registered on this service then Amazon must believe you should be VAT registered or they have not accepted you are established in the UK.
