I had a good conversation with an amazon person regarding erroneous price alerts. I sent 3 links to abe books ebay and ebay sold items that showed for sale and sold prices higher than what I was trying to sell my books for.

Making a case for each individual item might not be a good fix if you have 1000's of listings removed, but for smaller book sellers this has been working for the small amount of books that amazon permits me to sell.

The person I spoke with looked at the links as well as other platforms and was not able to find any other books for under my price. How amazon algorithm decides what price is too high or low is an amzon secret, But it was clearly not working properly. So he sent the info higher up and I got an email a few days later asking me to relist the book.

We discussed what kind of search the algorithm performed... II theorized its possible that amazn does a visual search as well as a keyword and isbn search for similar books. And if so its conflating collected editions with the same cover as one of the individual books contained within the collected vol. Also there are tin signs and posters for many of these books which can be confusing the keyword search. He also made a case stating that the algorithm is not working properly. He also agreed that buyers cant have a good or bad experience if theres nothing to buy. That removing items is turning people away instead of allowing people to decide whether or not to pay the price, and bad for amazn because they are missing out on a lot of profits.
