"Item arrived too late" 4 days before shipping window

Had a customer ask for a return request because "Item arrived too late" and of course Amazon auto-authorized it. I purchased shipping through Amazon and the item arrived FOUR DAYS before my "ship by" window even started. The ship by window was "Thu, Oct 26, 2023 to Fri, Oct 27, 2023" and the package was "Sat, Oct 21, 2023, 11:43 AM PDT Package delivered." I sell printed products and by the time they return to us they are rarely re-sellable (we print on demand and do not carry a physical inventory). I don't understand why Amazon even authorizes returns that are clearly BOLD FACED LIES. It couldn't by any metric have "arrived too late."

I know the advice will be file a Safe-T claim. I haven't filed a Safe-T claim yet because the item hasn't returned to me yet (so I haven't been debited yet) but the Safe-T claims I've filed have been hit or miss (Customer claims I sent wrong item but admits in their return request that I sent them what they ordered - that got denied). It just seems completely bogus that I have to waste time trying to recoup something that shouldn't have been granted in the first place.

I agree that the arrived late reason should not be available until after delivery window.

But I doubt Amazon will ever do that. And since it would be handled by bot, there's no reason not to. Except that they don't care.

From the buyer point of view: they needed this on Tuesday. So they ordered it Monday night..Selecting standard shipping option. And on Wednesday it's too late.

Got one too. The guy sent me an email saying he was returning it late. We shipped it four days before it needed to be shipped. The last couple of days I have had the two customers from hell. But only on Amazon. Never a problem with our website.

We get 1-2 of these a month. Even had some delivered before even the first estimated date. we have 3 options of shipping speed and every single one that ever claims late are the ones paying like media shipping but wanted it overnight but wouldn't pay overnight shipping. Amazon will not help you on this and if you fight a claim on these be ready to take a hit on your metrics.

You have to get used to scams. liars and cheats its the amazon way.

We see this at least once a month. Had someone return something that way a couple of months ago...the kicker is they had the product 6 hours after they purchased it. They lived 6 minutes away from us. UPS just picked it up and dropped it off.

Yes, we get this all the time too. I often contact the customer directly and explain but they never respond. There isn't much you can do than file a SAFE-T claim and maybe you'll get a small percentage of the order reimbursed.

We always make sure to message customer to inform them of supplied delivery dates and inform then that in fact item actually arrived early. But Amazons lame wording can mean anything but too late offers FREE returns. We love wasting hours every week on Safe-T claims which we would not need if Amazon stayed out of everyones business.

What I hate is that Amazon allows the customer to get a prepaid return label that we have to pay. My policy states that customer pays return shipping if it is not late, but Amazon does not acknowledge us at all.

This often happens during the Christmas season.

I only file a Safe-T claim if the customer paid shipping, as that service was provided and arrived within the window. That allows me to recover some money.

Amazon is all about the customer, so it really doesn't matter what the customer selects as the return reason.

Amazon does not care because its NOT Amazon's money. And you get charged for everything (outbound shipping, return shipping, "tax" on shipping, fee to process the refund and whatever else Amazon feels they can rob from you (and the rest of us as well).
