Selling olive oil to USA

hi

I'm planning to sell olive oil from Turkey to USA or Canada but what should I know in advance? I'll be a retailer here , for now, maybe later I'll create my own brand and sell my own product. Can i just buy the oil from wholesaler and list it and ship it ? The brand i buy has a EU organic certificate.

Like for any other products on Amazon, also for olive oil the competition is high. Searching on .com it tells me "over 2'000 results".

So you will sell another existing brand. First question: does it already sell on amazon.com or on any other amazon market? If yes, you can certainly benefit from the existing reviews and ratings. BUT - you need a "Letter of Authorization" from the brand owner, means he has to allow you to join other sellers on the existing listing.

Certainly you need to do a good research on the website of the American FDA to learn what exactly you have to do. If I remember well, you need an official importer in the USA.

Furthermore don't forget that the transport to the USA of this heavy product will cost a lot and that Amazon will keep about 30% of the sales price.

I don't sell food products but I believe you need to have advanced approval from Amazon to list in that category.

If you were my friend, I would highly recommend that you never again think of creating a brand to sell a highly competitive product on Amazon. I can virtually assure you that if you decide to do this, you will regret it.

You would need to sign up with the FDA to do prior approval and this process is quite complicated.

Assuming you are selling in glass bottles, you need to read the rules about shipping glass.

I would not recommend it. I sell spices and one of them comes with a small bottle of olive oil. I chose not to sell it on Amazon. Too risky
