Extra fields in template files.
I've noticed product template files are limited in the number of fields they support. For example Key Product Features is limited to 5 columns in the file, but via the product edit page you can add many more. Also Directions field is missing in my template file.
So the question is can I add these fields manually to the file? Is there any other way to access these fields?

Amazon recently update the category specific excel template files. We have noticed that some columns have been hidden. We would first suggest to make sure all columns are unhidden and visible on the excel sheet. It is possible that a tab may be hidden also and may need to unhidden (which may explain why you are not seeing the Directions tab). If columns and tabs are not hidden and still missing, we would suggest to download a new template and see if it is better.
NO ... This will cause the file to be rejected upon uploading.
Amazon recently has been updating attributes on both the excel templates and the manage edit page. Since attributes are being added and deleted, we can only suggest to use caution and to go back and check the manage edit page and re-download your category specific excel template to check for changes.

You can also locate the template for the category your products belong to on this help page, and I'll confirm that adding fields manually into other templates will likely result in an error, but you might also be interested in reading through this page on building an inventory file so you have all required information at hand!
