Can I sell my self-published book without GS1 certificate?
I am a self-published author trying to list my book on Amazon and I haven't been successful, I have an ISBN, but the support team is asking me for GS1 certificate. Since I don't have a registered company, I am not able to get a GS1 certificate. Is GS1 really needed or is there an alternate way to solve this problem?

No GS1 required, No GST required to sell on books category.
You should apply for exemption while creating listing on amazon.
*Also it is good to have GST certification while deals in online sales, there are many other things which requires GST, for example packing material which you need to pack your goods comes under GST 18% , shipping service also attracts 18% GST, if you have GST registration, you can claim ITC while filing return and TDS while filling income tax. Although books are exempted from GST, there are other taxes in online selling like TCS, TDS when your sales exceed certain amount. so plan accordingly.
