Effective April 1, 2022, e-invoice is mandatory for tax payers with a turnover of more than 20 crores INR
The Government of India (GOI) has announced that effective April 1, 2022, tax payers with turnover more than 20 crore INR in any financial year from 2017-18 onwards must mandatorily issue e-invoice to B2B transactions. Under the GST law, e-invoicing for B2B transactions was first made mandatory for companies with a turnover of over 500 crore INR on October 1, 2020. It was then extended to entities with a turnover of over 100 crore INR from January 1, 2021, and then for those with a turnover of more than 50 crore INR from April 1, 2021.
All eligible tax payers must issue invoices with Invoice Reference Number (IRN) or QR code generated through Invoice Registration Portal (IRP). Amazon requires seller’s e-invoice credentials for all non-marketplace transactions, such as transshipment, liquidation invoices.
To support sellers with this change, we have enabled a feature in Seller Central through which you can choose to authorise Amazon to generate e-invoices on your behalf:
- Go to Settings and select Tax Settings.
- Select Enroll for E-invoicing under Additional Settings.
For details, refer to E-invoicing FAQ.
To check your e-Invoicing eligibility:
- Go to e-Invoice System.
- Select e-Invoice Status of Taxpayer under Search.
