Questions Regarding Invoice Expiration
Hello all, and hopefully Amazon Moderators.
I have a friend who had a counterfeit claim on a thrifted book he had, which in turn resulted his account being deactivated until he provided an invoice. Due to this, I only want to sell items that have invoices which I have done. Past this, I am very curious about if the invoices ever "expire" for the items that you buy.
If someone were to buy an item from Amazon to then resell on Amazon, would said Amazon be valid if the book took over a year to sell? I know for getting ungated, the invoice has to be within 180 days... is this the same for counterfeit claim invoices? Lets say I bought a book in 2023, listed it in 2023, and it sold in 2025. Would my invoice still be okay to use in a counterfeit claim, especially considering I listed in 2023?
Thanks everyone.

Hello @Seller_egZxGtfDeKIAc
Thank you for the inquiry into the policy and how it is set up. Our invoice requirements will consider a valid invoice to be dated within 365 days. If you have an invoice for a specific product that is dated outside of this time frame, then it would not be considered valid and our team will reject it.
For any additional questions, we do encourage you to continue to utilize this thread for support.

Hello @Seller_egZxGtfDeKIAc,
Thank you for following up with another inquiry.
The sourcing documentation would not meet our requirements. You would not have a valid supply chain and the sourcing documentation that would eventually lead back to that supplier for confirmation would be expired. Any sourcing documentation will need to 100% meet our invoice requirements or they will not be accepted.
You may also want to review our anti-counterfeiting policy along with our supply chain standards for additional guidance on this policy. I also recommend reviewing our intellectual property policies as the concern of authenticity and intellectual properties has a tendency to overlap.
Was your friend selling a new or used book, what was the ASIN they used? When it was sourced does it reference an itemized product to confirm purchase? If the sourcing documents do not meet our requirements your friend may not be able to address this situation.
The forums community and I are here to support you. Please let us know how we can help you from this point forward.
