Why are returns, and refunds, being allowed 6+ months later?

Amazon just allowed a customer to return an item that was sold back in July, and they were refunded. The item was returned used and so beaten up that it is now trash. Amazon refuses to reimburse me for this because they say they are not responsible for customer damage.

I would like to know why the return was authorized 175 days later? The only response I have received is that they can allow returns outside of the 30 day window on a case by case basis. What is the criteria for that?

Sounds like that was FBA. You should read the FBA policies sometime. You give them full authority to do as they please....
