Unable to merge global accounts US to EU

I have a long standing US Seller Account. I want to add the EU and UK Marketplace and so I created an account there which is now approved and active. However once I go to merge I'm getting the following error though I am fully registered in the other profile. Please help.

This global account has an in-registration account. You can finish registering or terminate the in-registration account, and then try to merge your accounts. You may be prompted to sign in with the credentials for this account.

It seems someone had the same issue in the following post and it was resolved by Amazon:

Sometimes merging accounts can be a bit tricky depending on how your global accounts are already set up.

Have you opened a case with Seller Support on this yet? That would be the next best step here. Additionally, I see you posted a link from the UK Seller Forums. You may wish to post this there as well by changing the country in the top right country drop down to post within our UK forums as well.
