USPS recycling and reusing tracking numbers

Not sure if it's just my luck but for 2 orders, seems USPS labels purchased through Amazon have been recycled for items (not mine) that were delivered some time ago in the recent past. Going to assume I'm out of luck on getting a refund because they show as delivered by USPS.

Happy Monday... :(

193 of our Feb 24 shipped packages had used tracking #s. 99% show delivered in Dec and 1% show delivered in Jan.

We are experiencing the same. Essentially all orders shipped on Monday, 2-24-2025 via USPS Ground Advantage (<1lb) using Amazon Shipping Services reflect a 'recycled' Amazon assigned USPS trackingID. These 'recycled' USPS tracking IDs reflect within USPS tracking system as packages shipped/delivered in December 2024.

We have 56 of 67 orders from yesterday's shipping (Monday, 2-24-2025) experiencing this - i.e. Amazon provided USPS trackingID assigned through Amazon Buy Shipping Services displaying 'recycled' tracking information from December 2024 within USPS.

Moderator attention/input would be greatly appreciated.

It's actually still happening today with ALL USPS Ground Advantage labels.

It would be great if we can get some kind of update.

Hello Sellers. Thank you for reporting this issue with tracking numbers.

I shared this and related threads for review. It would help if you could share any Support Case IDs you have filed with specific order/tracking details, as well as if you have seen this for any carrier besides USPS.

Just noticed that as well. Is there a mod who can check to see if there is a tracking glitch in the system. I checked 2 items and they showed delivered, but they had not even arrived at the post office.

Let us know!

The packages might actually be traveling correctly through the USPS system, but I don't think the Amazon tracking is actually showing correctly. My packages are 'arriving at the carrier facility' and 'departed carrier facility' way more than would reflect any actual travel... and none of those facilities are identified by location.

More nonsense:

Veeqo still shows that if I purchase a label that it will be OTDR and INR protected using USPS Ground advantage... but if I want to purchase that label directly from "buy shipping" the order page says that it has used USPS Ground Advantage for my Delivery Promise, but instead of seeing OTDR and INR protected in Buy Shipping, it says "risk of late delivery" and no protection if I choose Ground Advantage. Only the much more expensive DHL and UPS options show the protection icons. And this is for an address close enough to me that I could be at in 24 minutes tops...

I don't even know what service to use, and I don't trust either of them at this point.

ETA: I shipped the local package in Veeqo and got a seemingly unused tracking number, and my ODTR and INR protections are reflected on the Amazon Order Page. YMMV

I just lost a A-to-Z claim because of the recycled trackign number this week. There isn;t a case ID attached to this issue, what information would I need to submit to have this looked at?
