UL4200a Documents Stuck in "under review" status for months

@Glenn_Amazon @Rose_Amazon @Jim_Amazon @Atlas_Amazon @Dominic_Amazon @TaylorR_Amazon @Manny_Amazon

I submitted the wrong documents for ul4200a approval 2 months ago, but they've been stuck in "under review" status ever since. I finally got my actual UL4200a approval from TUV SUD America this past week, but I can't upload it until the current docs get rejected. Seller central just keeps telling me I have to wait for the current docs to get rejected before I can upload new ones. When I explain to them that they've been stuck in there for months, they just repeat themselves. It's insanely frustrating. I also keep getting emails from the "buyability" team, telling me to submit the docs. I CAN'T! I explain the situation to them and get no response. I'm slowly losing my mind and financial stability...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just submitted my docs again yesterday; A full test report from TUV SUD (one of the largest product safety labs in the world), the GCC, and images of my product from every possible angle, and was rejected again. The response is a blanket form letter with no specificity. I reply, asking them to tell me what's missing, and I just get sent the same blanket rejection. Is there anyone you can talk to, who can tell me exactly what's missing?
View post

As I do have very limited visibility to everything provided or specifics on the decisions our review teams come to, I have reached back out to the appropriate teams, they have actually confirmed their situation is still pending review. They again have only confirmed they are in possession of the situation and are still reviewing the situation. Some situations involving compliance documents may take some time to resolve, but once they have more information they will follow up with you and me on the situation. Once they reach out to me on the situation, I will follow up with your here.

Hi April. I'm not upset about the fact that it was rejected. The problem is that I have no idea how I'm expected to correct the issue for which it was rejected if I'm not given a reason for the rejection. I just need to know WHY they're rejecting it. -What was missing or incorrect about the submission? When they reject us they basically just say, "rejected." That's just not fair. We need more than that.

Thanks Ricardo. I was just rejected again. And again I was given no reason. -Or rather their "reason" is simply, "Please submit a full test report from an ISO 17025 certified lab." -Which of course I did. -5 times now, from TUV SUD America. In case there is any question, I've attached TUV SUD America's actual ISO17025 certification here. If you think it'd be helpful at all to attach the "full report," please let me know and I will. I've also attached the approval/pass-result page from the report, and the rejection email from Amazon. This is the most frustrating thing I have ever endured in this lifetime; if there's anything you can do, please know that it will be appreciated accordingly.

Thanks Ricardo. I also wrote to Jeff about it a week ago (nothing back) and just today sent a note to pa-backlog-us@ amazon .com.

I think the problem lies in the limited set of instructions given to the test-report reviewers. My instinct tells me that they've been told to only approve tests that are "on this list," and "this list," contains only the Amazon compliance testing partners shown on the seller central "Compliance Partners" page below.

Unfortunately, TUV SUD America, despite being ISO 17025 accredited, is NOT on their list, so they're quick to reject.

Obviously it's not fair to reject a legitimate report simply because it didn't come from one of Amazon's approved partners. If the report is from an ISO17025 accredited lab (as requested) then one would think Amazon should regard it just as seriously as a report from one of their compliance partners. -Of course, Amazon won't make any referral fees off of labs not listed in their compliance partnerships, and that may have something to do with why my test is not being approved. It's also likely illegal in some way, which I'm currently researching.

In any case, your help is GREATLY appreciated. Really hoping you can get this issue some attention from someone who can actually understand the oversight and make changes to correct it.

Thanks again

My full, passing test report from TUV SUD America was just rejected again. Same cryptic response: "Please submit a test report from an ISO 17025 accredited lab."

I've confirmed with TUV SUD America that they are ISO17025 accredited and work with Amazon products regularly.

So, new theory:

The reviewers at "consumer-buttoncell" are not experts on UL4200a, and my product is different from what they're used to seeing. My product's battery compartment is sealed and completely inaccessible (as certified in the report), but the reviewers are used to seeing pictures in the reports of battery compartments with safety labeling.

Again, my product's battery compartment is sealed. The batteries are completely inaccessible. There is no "battery compartment," so UL4200a requires no battery compartment labeling (see screenshot below).

Therefore no images of the battery compartment are in the report.

img

Since the reviewer sees no pictures of the battery compartment labeling, he or she thinks the report is "incomplete," but that is incorrect.

Please help.

Since the reviewer sees no pictures of the battery compartment labeling, he or she thinks the report is "incomplete," but that is incorrect.

Please help.
