Display name and ensuing complications
Hello Forums,
I'm currently considering a display name change, but I'd like to know a bit more about it...
We are currently selling under a sister brand, but after some experience have noticed that the parent company's name is stronger and would be a better option, so we want to change. Currently we only sell 3 ASINs (all own-branded products that we manufacture).
My questions about changing the display name are:
- If I change the display name, are ASINs I create after the change going to be under the new display name or the old one?
- I know I can't re-brand ASIN pages, but will I also loose access to editing the detail pages? Since my display name wont match the ASIN's brand?
- Will this also allow me to change all the branding etc. on my storefront?
- What are the chances of getting dinged by a bot that thinks my account has been hacked, or that thinks I am using 2 sperate accounts to sell?
- What do I need to do with Brand Registry?
- Do I need to make the change for all marketplaces, even the ones that are not active?

Yes, sellers are able to change their display name. The display name is not linked to your performance/account health metrics, and it is more like your Seller identity for customers purchasing from you.

After you change your display name, new ASINs should reflect this new display name too.

Please check with Seller Support on this topic as it could vary depending on the ASIN or brand details!
Does the parent company already have Brand Registry, if yes, could you be added into it as a user? Typically Brand Registry is a separate process. Enrollment does not mean that you can use a display name that includes Amazon trademarks or terms that can confuse customers.
