Distributor or Reseller ?

Hi y'all.

Sorry for the somewhat stupid question but i started selling on amazon a few days ago and ive never been so lost in my entire life.

I want to "request approval" but it is asking for an invoice from a Distributor or manufacturer. Are Walmart, Target, Ross, TJMaxx, Costco distributors? If not, how do i find them?

Thanks a lot!

First step: head off to Seller University

You start with a brand you want to sell. Contact the brand -- preferably by real mail, on your letterhead. Ask for their written permission to sell their product(s) on Amazon. And ask to be directed to a distributor in your area.

No -- Walmart, Target, etc are not acceptable sources. You will face suspension attempting retail arbitrage. Amazon will not accept those receipts as acceptable sourcing documents.

Before you do anything else, spend 2 or 3 hours reading forum posts. It's all the education you need before going any deeper......Kudos for asking before following some TikTok guru

Hi there @Seller_pZGuCy7MrxI8m,

Thanks for reaching out with your question. These businesses you listed are "Retailers". Retailers sell products from manufacturers or distributors directly to the public while distributors sell to retailers (wholesale) and manufacturers create products that they deliver to distributors or retailers directly. In order to verify the authenticity of your products Amazon will need invoices that meet our invoice requirements. Most of the time retail receipts will not be sufficient to get approved. I would recommend you review Amazon's Sourcing Guidelines to better understand what Amazon expects from sellers. Thank you for your understanding.
