How are products being listed as "Generic" with brand names in the pictures and titles of said products?
Hello all, maybe I am missing something, but I have seen on multiple occasions where products that are listed on Amazon (and products that I try to add a listing to) say they are a "Generic" brand but in the title of the listings AND the pictures on the listing have the brand name right there. How is this possible/allowed?
Again, maybe I don't understand the Generic policy entirely, but I am looking for some clarity as I am new-ish to selling on Amazon.
Thanks!

Amazon pays more attention to the Brand "field" than it does the rest .... The rest is just seller abuse or error. The "how is this possible/allowed" is not important.
If you can't find an ASIN that exactly matches your product in all data then you have to create a new page.

The brand is listed as Generic for two reasons.
1. The seller does not have a registered trademark.
2. The seller has opted to not get their brand name approved because they either
A. Dont know about it.
B. Dont have any proof to send to Amazon that they are actively selling this brand elsewhere (which gets your brand name approved and you can use it on Amazon without having to pay to register a trademark).

Hello @Seller_uieroNX1WuoOF,
Michelle at Amazon here. I understand that you would like to know how a seller can list a generic item when it's actually a branded item.
This is a policy violation and you can review the Generic Policy which states:
Generic products are non-branded products that do not belong to any identifiable brand. A non-branded product does not have a common name, or a logo that labels its products or packaging. For example, a mobile phone case that does not belong to a brand would not have any branding, so the product should use the brand value as Generic.
If you find items that are branded but listed as generic, you can report them through the Report a Violation help page.
Go to Report Abuse, select Product Detail Page violates Amazon policy or is misleading customers, then Content on detail page is incorrect or not allowed as per Amazon's policy, which will lead you to this page. Fill out all relevant information and it will be reviewed by our internal teams. Please note that they will not share the outcome of the report as the information is confidential, but it will be reviewed.
I hope this information is helpful! Have a great rest of the week!
Regards,
Michelle

@Michelle_Amazon and @Seller_uieroNX1WuoOF this is a rampant problem and Amazon does NOTHING. I have reported this issue repeatedly and NEVER seen any changes to the listings. Despite Amazon saying they don't respond to reported violations, I receive e-mails saying no violations were found. If the seller has any volume, Amazon ignores it. I have tagged mods on reports I have made and they go dark because Amazon will not do anything. No changes to the listings, review images show the violations, and crickets for policy enforcement. Amazon ONLY enforces a policy that may get them sued, not that impacts the fairness of rule enforcement.
