Merging with or buying a competitor, multiple selling accounts

If two competing corporate businesses decide to merge and now share similar ownership or one buys the other do they need to close one of the selling accounts or are they able to continue operating both accounts. I cannot find a clear answer to this within Amazon policy

According to Amazon

Selling Partners who have a legitimate business need can operate multiple Selling Accounts and do not require Amazon's approval.

However, this above statement ignores the profound incompetence of having a staff that does not understand the English language. Even with an understanding of the rules, something always goes wrong.

If I were you, I would be too scared to operate two accounts. I would begin to slowly phase out one of those two accounts.

This is a fantastic question!

Amazon's Seller Code of Conduct and Multiple Account policy does allow for multiple accounts, so it is possible for two accounts to be running at one time. There are a few things to consider about the situation, just as @Seller_vSOOwekJLU6c0 has briefly stated.

Sellers may only operate a single selling account unless there is a legitimate business need to have two accounts. Such a business need might be because you have multiple brands or you were recruited to join an Amazon program which requires a new selling account. Even when permitted, all accounts must remain in good standing. If one becomes deactivated for any reason, all associated accounts will also be deactivated and remain so, until the account that was originally deactivated is reactivated.

It is also important to note that accounts are not generally transferable.

Regards,

Stevie
