Account under review

I’ve been selling on Handmade for around 6 years. On the 15th I got an email from amazon saying -

We are conducting a review of your account. Within 14 days, please upload the information requested to our secure document upload page:

I had to answer something about not being connected to any political party or such like, which I agreed with. I seem to recall having to answer something similar in the past.
Then the day after I got another email saying-

We are contacting you as we need some additional documents to continue with your account verification

What happens if I do not send the required documents?
You have a total of 60 days from the day we first contacted you to provide all documentation or information requested to complete the verification. The time that Amazon takes in reviewing and validating the information or documentation provided will not be counted against the 60 days threshold you are given. Failure to provide this on time will lead to your disbursements being disallowed until verification has been completed.
If it has been more than 60 days since we first contacted you, your disbursements may have already been disallowed and will remain temporarily deactivated until the requested information or documentation has been provided and your account has been verified.

Why is this happening?
The Please provide one of the following documents for your verification

What type of document do I need to provide?
Business verification documents:
– One of the following documents issued by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) within the last year:

  • Class 2 National Insurance Contributions (NICs) Bill
  • Online VAT Certificate
  • Self-Assessment notice to complete a tax return
  • Letter confirming your Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR) number
  • Self Assessment Statement

When I clicked on the link it wasn’t asking me for these, but was asking for a power of attorney letter. Followed the help link and found the example. Doesn’t make sense as I’m a sole trader and it was asking me to give permission to myself to get amazon payments.
So I aired on the side of caution and provided both the tax docs and power of attorney letter. Said it would be reviewed in 24 hrs - 10 days.
But it’s put a stop on my disbursements, and I’ve got a fair amount in there which I obviously need to cover costs of orders I’ve sent out.

My account health is absolutely perfect, so can’t understand what’s going on and now worried sick that I can’t get the money that I’m owed.
Has anyone else experienced similar?

Hello @Enchanted_Wishes,

Virgil here to assist.

Thank you for providing insight into your current account status. My goal is to give you further guidance on the next steps.

In accordance with UK regulations, Amazon Payments UK requires sellers to provide information about themselves and their business so that they can receive the proceeds of their transactions on Amazon EU stores.

The verification of your identity is required by law. As per UK Regulations and Laws, verifying your identity is required to allow you to use our payment service. You may need to provide us with certain information or documents as requested in order to facilitate these checks.

Once we receive all of the required information, we will proceed with the verification of your account. Verification could take up to 10 days; however, it may take longer in some situations based on the complexity of the account.

We would request you to kindly wait until the verification is completed, as you may not be able to submit additional information during the verification.

For more details, please visit Information required to sell on Amazon.

Furthermore, we would highly recommend you to contact the seller support team for dedicated assistance.

Thank you @The_Little_Shop, @Jillyb1 for your valuable inputs.

I appreciate you providing updates about your account. Please continue to post any relevant information in relation to this topic so it can be addressed at a later time.

Best Regards,
Virgil.

Just had an email saying my disbursement is on its way. Yet my account is still showing as being verified, not heard anything back from that yet.
I thought you couldn’t get disbursements while it was being verified
I had put it on holiday mode as thought I wouldn’t be able to get my payments, but not sure whether to take it off now and keep selling if I am going to be able to get my disbursements. What do others do in this situation?

Now had email saying-

Good news! Your Selling on Amazon payment account has been activated.

We will get in touch with you if we need more information.

No idea if that’s from the self assessment statement I originally submitted, or the notice to complete tax that I sent by email afterwards. But it’s taken 5 days from submitting. Good luck to everyone else waiting for verification :crossed_fingers:
