Should I close my “Individual” account and then open a new one as "Business" or update the current one?

Hey community,

I created my Seller Central account as “Individual”, using the same email address associated with my Amazon customer account. After a year of selling, I decided to expand my business on Amazon. So, I created a company and plan to switch to a "Business" seller account.

My question is: Should I close my “Individual” account and then open a new one as "Business" or should I update the current account with the new company information?

Let me explain the context:

As a seller, if I upgrade my current account from “Individual” to “Business”, I will have some benefits, such as being able to keep the current display name, address, and phone number, in addition to the sales history, reviews and categories already unlocked. If I go down the account update way, I will update the Legal Entity and other data as the Payment Information (Deposit Methods and Charge Methods) with the credit card and the bank account details of this company I just created.

However, this update will affect my Amazon customer account (as an individual customer/buyer), because is the same email address. As a customer, I would like to keep buying and paying on Amazon.com as an individual (with my personal credit card, not the company credit card), because are personal purchases.

In other words: Currently, I am both individual (seller and customer). But I want to change to be a business seller (as a company) and remain as an individual customer.

How to do it?

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Do not close / open your account, just upgrade.

You may use a different card on the buying side, however I do urge you to have the card you use on the seller side also registered on the buyer side.

You may have more than one card registered, and for the buyer side, add a different card and you can switch around as to which one you use at checkout.
