"Target Audience"
Hello,
I was wondering if the "target audience" in product details page is for the buyer or the recipient of the product. I ask because my product is mostly gifts, so would my audience be the customer buying the gift/product or the recipient of the gift/product.
For example, if a product is intended for men/a boyfriend/husband would that be my target audience or would it be the wife/girlfriend/partner who is buying the gift?
Thank you so much for your help!

EXCELLENT QUESTION!!
Here is what Amazon has to say about this, but to answer ... it is the audience who will use the item.
TargetAudience
The TargetAudience specifies the appropriate audience for a product that is not intended for general consumption. For products used by people, values could be adults, children etc. For products used by pets, the values could be birds, cats, and so on.
Requirements
- It's optional
- Type: Enumerated Values
- Max. Occurrences: 3
Valid Values
Valid values are located in the Browse Tree Guide associated with your particular product category. Your TargetAudience value must exactly match the term from the BTG. A single misplaced character will invalidate the term.
Special Notes
Although the TargetAudience element is optional, it is in your best interest to provide as many appropriate values as possible. Omitting a relevant TargetAudience value may limit the number of places where your product will appear in the browse structure.
Examples for the graph below
- The entry for TargetAudience on the first line is valid because it meets the requirements above.
- Both TargetAudience entries on Line 2 are invalid: TargetAudience1 can only have a single term, not multiple terms. In TargetAudience2, the term "senior citizens" is not a valid value.
