External Product ID Type in variants

Hi,

I am trying to add my first listing with five color variants. Do I need to create five separate listings and use the ASIN as the external product type to merge them, or should I create a single listing with a UPC code as the External Product ID and provide five UPC codes?

Thanks

Hi @Seller_Qf24HjGUSugfu,

I can help you with setting up your color variations! According to the Add Products help page (link):

Go to Catalog > Add Products, select "Blank form" and click "Start". After entering your product title, you'll see a checkbox for "This product has variations" - this is where you can set up your color variants all at once.

The help page explains that you'll need to provide a unique UPC/EAN for each color variation. You'll find this requirement in the "Variations Matrix" section, which appears after you click "Add variations".

One thing to keep in mind - the help documentation mentions that "Not all related products are valid variations" and Amazon may review variation families to ensure they meet their standards. But for different colors of the same product, this shouldn't be an issue.

Best regards, Michael
