Allow sellers to respond to reviews.
Dear Amazon Team and Amazon Sellers,
One big gap in the Amazon buyer and seller experience is the ABILITY OF SELLERS to respond to product reviews publicly.
Some negative reviews tend to be quite baseless or unfounded. There are thousands of examples, but some common examples are:
- A customer imagining that something is included when it is clearly not.
- Someone who is not well versed might not understand the usage of a relatively new product in the industry.
- Unrealistic expectations at a certain price point.
- Feedback from people who might not be of sound mind (This is not meant as a joke and is not meant to hurt anyone's feelings)
Ofcourse one might say that these get offset by positive reviews if the product is really good and the seller can work on improving customer education. Nobody is denying this and we as sellers anyways are always trying to improve the buyer experience.
HOWEVER,
The point I am trying to make is not that negative reviews are not warranted. The point I am trying to make is that if a negative review is baseless, atleast offer the seller a chance to respond to them. Indeed most buyers would remove baseless feedback if they read the seller's response to it. It will also increase overall buyer confidence if they understand the seller's point of view and indeed would be more educational to buyers in general.
In my opinion this would increase overall buyer confidence and overall sales for Amazon in general.
I mean even people who commit horrendous capital crimes are allowed to defend themselves publicly.
Allow sellers to respond to reviews.
