Different cover (picture) of the book, but same author and title. Problem? Violation?

Hello!

Does anybody know if this will be considered as a violation or could bring any potential problem if I will list for FBA books which have same Asin/ ISBN but different pictures from the ones I am sending.Author and title are the same. Just cover is different.

Thank you in advance. Really would like to get some advise.

This is where providing an accurate description of each book as well as your own picture helps a lot. I'm not sure how that works with FBA but perhaps @Seller_Hi7wbO2Kbo6blmay have some advice on that.

ASIN and ISBN are different things. If there have been any changes to the book, or this is by a different publisher, the ISBN will not match. Are they new or used books? I also do not do FBA (not on your life!) but I did have a return where the picture was changed after I listed, so it no longer matched, even though my description had edition, etc. Was returned as "not as described at website." Your own photo attached would be a must if the book does indeed meet the page criteria other than the photo (this is not a common thing, there is usually a change. Even if the illustrator is different, etc. it will not match.)

If the ISBN matches (and is correct; not uncommon for an Amazon page to have the wrong ISBN, usually mixing bindings), then there is no problem

Cover illustrations change often; it's very common for the 2nd printing to have a different cover than the 1st, at least in some detail. And also common for a book that is popular enough to be around for multiple printings to have an updated cover image after a few years. But the book is still the same; it would be a violation of Amazon rules to list it elsewhere.

When I have this (and it happens a LOT), I put in the condition notes something like "Early Printing; cover art differs from listing illustration". If it's a valuable book, I'll do a photo, but usually don't bother with it. Never had a problem, either from Amazon or customer. (and if it's something where the customer really cares about the cover, they'll probably message you for more details before buying; I've had that happen a couple of times.)

As others have said, this happens a lot. The Amazon catalogue is, quite frankly, a bit of a mess. Missing or incorrect authors, missing publication data, truncated titles, and of course, incorrect and misleading images. (Clicking on 'Report Incorrect Product Information' seems to do absolutely nothing but make your clicking-finger tired.)

Occasionally a customer has complained that the book does not resemble the Amazon pic, but this is usually because another seller has posted an image of an author signature or some other specific feature of their copy which has been accepted as the Amazon main image, or because our copy is lacking its dust jacket (which we always describe as absent). Oddly, there was one complaint that our copy had its jacket when the image did not include it!

But since Amazon buyers are not required to read the seller description of the particular copy of a book they are buying, it is an issue that is always lurking around. On items of value that are significantly different from the Amazon image, we take photos, but of course the buyer is not required to pay attention to those either!

Buyers don't read descriptions...So that could be a problem...Perhaps mention this issue in ALL CAPS in Your Description...

Include a picture in your listing. Make it very clear in your description that the content is the same but the cover is not.
