COD orders are mostly like that, its a pain for seller sometime like your case. Buyer usually forget after placing the COD because it’s too easy. You can prevent if you choose easyship. if you stop easyship service then you won’t get COD orders at all and your have to ship all the orders by your local courier. No other option.

Self Shipment is also an pain you have to manually enter all customers docket nos, also you can not assure the customer when he receive the parcel, many a time delivery person return your parcel stating that address undeliverable or many a time receivers signature is not verified and customer ask for refund and amazon refund them as they claim A to z claim stating that they have not received parcel and sign is fake, also you wont get any COD genuine customers,
many a time competitive seller is also involved in the malpractice he order from fake address and return it and for just making comment they will do these fraud activity.

there is no any option amazon must repay fees and shipping cost for cancelled or rejected parcels or damaged parcels from his pocket as its just for attracting customer they offer COD, there is no any address check or verification done from amazon any ghost address is given and parcel either misplaced or damaged in transit you just make an case at safety claim ad follow the process.

there is nothing to do with, there is another big issue we all are facing that unknown parcel with your name and address came in return, product that does not belongs to you or customer just send any thing in parcel in return. you will bear the loss of product ?

Only one way to prevent this loss, is like, When any Cash On Delivery order comes, Kindly contact the Buyer for Confirmation of the Order. And than only dispatch the Product so that atleast Cash On Delivery orders rejection can be reduced.

Move out of FBA.
The sale will be less but it will be clean. Profit margins will be in your bank account rather than losing in the daily losses. That is immediate step one can take till the time Amazon doesnt fix this shit.

First contact the buyer via phone or choose cod with genuine customers only . second thing is use easyship and fba. dont lose money again . amazon will never reply because its just a platform for sellers and buyers . its seller sole responsibility for everything like return and orders

I joined Amazon in April 2018. From that month I had 10 orders through COD. I noticed out of 10, 4 were returns due to reason - " undelivered". That means, customer is so very irresponsible and playing with system. So, for following orders I tried to message customer asking to confirm the address before despatching. They didn’t respond . I informed Amazon Seller Support. Same copy paste msg from seller support, our internal team will get back to you. They intentionally, withhold the response till the last day of dispatch deadline and finally instruct us to send the product stating, if it returns Amazon will reimburse the return charges. But what about the Amazon fees. So, after all hit and trials, the last and only path is “opting out of Easy Ship” and thus no COD. Eliminating COD, helps in filtering serious and genuine buyers. After changing to self ship, I got again 10 orders, and none are returns as of now. So, I guess it is working so far.
