Staging Account Status Preventing India Site Closure – Urgent Help Needed
Hello fellow sellers,
I’m currently facing a challenge in closing our long-dormant Amazon India seller account due to a technical restriction. Here’s the situation:
Our account has been in vacation mode (non-active) for years, with all product listings and inventory removed by ourselves.
Initially, closure was blocked by a pending balance, which we resolved via wire transfer. However, due to exchange rate and wire transfer minimum fees, the account now has a small remaining balance of 22.27 INR.
Amazon Seller Support confirmed the account cannot be closed until the balance is below 1 INR. They advised waiting for the system to automatically refund the remaining amount, but multiple refund attempts have failed, citing “invalid/non-existent bank account” errors.
Further investigation via Seller Support revealed the root cause: the account is stuck in ‘staging’ status, which prevents bank verification even though the provided account details are confirmed valid by our bank.
We’ve escalated this to Amazon’s technical teams almost two months ago under Case #11137547762 , but the case remains unresolved with only automated updates stating “under investigation.”
Request for Assistance:
Has anyone encountered a similar issue with ‘staging’ status blocking account closure? If so, what steps did you take to resolve it?
Could you advise on how to urgently escalate this to Amazon’s technical/engineering teams for account status recovery?
Is there a way to request manual zeroing of the 22.27 INR balance to bypass the system’s requirement?
Any experience or guidance would be greatly appreciated. We’re eager to close the account and need help navigating this stalemate.
Thank you in advance!
