Same target in different ad campaigns

Hi! I have a number of similar products that share similar search terms. They are not absolutely identical, and this is why they are not a part of variation but different listings. I run different ad campaigns for these products, which have the same target accordingly. I’ve heard 2 different views on this situation. Some experts say the campaigns compete with each other, which increases the amount of ad budget spent. Plus having multiple campaigns with the same target is generally inefficient. Other experts say this approach makes sense, as my bids don’t compete with each other, but only compete with the competitors bid. And that having multiple campaigns with the same target makes sense when the products are not identical, and this allows to get more ‘estate’ in the search results. Does anybody have experience with this and could share feedback on the topic?
