How do we get shipping refunded for a late delivery when using Amazon Buy Shipping?

When we call UPS they say it is not eligible for a refund. We assume that is based on Amazons terms with UPS. Packages aren't guaranteed to arrive on time in exchange for a lower rate ?????
If I pay X for next day shipping and it does not arrive on time, then I need a refund. Furthermore, Amazon strikes my account for late shipment mwetrics- even though I used your [Amazon's] Buy Shipping and your UPS account.
Amazon will not refund my shipping when it is delivered late. They tell me to call UPS.
UPS will not refund it because its 'not eligible'.
This all seems border-line illegal. PLEASE HELP. If I pay for Next day air and it doesn't get their on time- I, the SFP seller, need a refund.

There is no such thing as a refund for late delivery using UPS Ground. The service guarantee was indefinitely paused in 2021, according to the UPS terms and conditions posted on their website, service guarantee.
