If you believe that the product you want to sell is not already listed in the Amazon catalogue and should be listed as a new ASIN, submit an application by clicking here and completing the form.”

What causes error 5461?

If you receive this error, it is because you are attempting to create a new ASIN for a brand for which you are not pre-approved to create new ASINs for.

Error 5461 notifies sellers who are not brand owners or brand-qualified that they are not qualified to create a product listing as a result of protections for brand owners and brand-qualified sellers.

Creation of new ASINs may be restricted to brand owners and their affiliates, retail and pre-approved sellers if we have verified that brands have listed their complete catalogue on Amazon.

How to resolve error 5461

If you encounter error 5461 you can often resolve it by searching for the product and matching your offer to the brand's existing product detail page.

If you can't locate the product when searching for it in the Amazon catalogue that could mean that it belongs to a brand enrolled in Amazon Brand Registry, but isn't yet listed by the brand owner or brand-qualified seller.

In this scenario you may apply to seller items for the brand. As part of your application you'll provide product information and images to create a new ASIN and product detail page. This is the only time a non-brand owner or non-brand-qualified seller can apply to create a new listing for a brand enrolled in Amazon Brand Registry.

To begin this process, you will need to click on the link in the error 5461 error message to access the Selling application for Category Authorization form. The brand you are trying to sell will be pre-selected. You will need to provide information such as the product ID (if available), product title, manufacturer, product description and the product's selling category or type.

You will also need to provide a number of images of the item. If you indicate that you are affiliated with the brand you will also be required to provide at least one letter from the brand authorizing you to create new listings for their products.
