Manual Targeting Campaign

Can anyone offer some insight?

We have a manual ad campaign whereby we target our own branded products. We have ran this campaign successfully for several years, however over Christmas and New Year we noticed the ACOS was extremely high. it is normally around 20% but it got up to 100%. On investigating we see that other competitor products have been targeted. We did not add these but there are 100's if not 1000's of products that are not part of our brand. We opened a ticket with the ads support team but we got a response that ad campaign has been like this for some time and they skirted round the issue. We reopened the ticket and tried to explain in more detail what the problem was but they said the previous response was correct and reopening the ticket would not do anything.....

We know this campaign, it was specifically set up to target our own products and ONLY our products. Like I say we ran it for several years like this.

These new ASINS Amazon have added have cost us over 7k since December.

How are Amazon allowed to add in random products to a manual campaign suddenly?

How can reopen the ticket and not get shut down?

Thank you!

Hello @Seller_Sw2SAGwv4YX4U- and thanks for surfacing this situation here on the seller forums.

If you'd like to share your case ID with our Advertising support team, I'd be happy to connect with our internal points of contact with them on it to determine what further guidance might be available.

In the meantime, I'll include this Ads help page focused on ACOS recommendations by campaign targeting type in case it proves helpful at all. You may also wish to investigate adding negative keywords into the campaign to avoid the competitor products, and review the match type employed in case that is responsible for matching to undesired keywords.

I hope this helps, and thanks again for the post!
