Wholesale / Suppliers / Private Label
Hi Folks,
I have a few questions regarding selling on Amazon that I'd appreciate some guidance on. Your expertise would be greatly valued.
Wholesaling and Private Label Simultaneously: I currently sell products under a Private Label on Amazon and is it possible to engage in both wholesale and private label selling simultaneously on the same Amazon account? Do I need any specific approvals or documentation for this?
Wholesale Module and Brand Approval: I have noticed some products that appear unrestricted by Amazon and do not require brand approval. We we put ASIN and click on show limitations, it reads: "Collectible, Refurbished conditions: You cannot list the product in this condition." and where the brand approval is necessary, the text is different.
If I purchase these (where brand approval is not necessary) products from authentic suppliers, could I potentially face trouble from the brand or other sellers after listing them?
Supplier Authentication: Many suppliers seem to offer a wide range of brand products. How can I verify the authenticity of these suppliers, especially when they offer products from numerous brands? What questions should I ask to ensure I'm working with legitimate suppliers? Is there any list or sources where I can find authentic suppliers/distributors from?
Invoices and LOA: I've seen instances where sellers list a product, provide Amazon with invoices upon request, and then Amazon asks for a Letter of Authorisation (LOA) from the brand. If a product can be listed on Amazon without brand approval initially, why would the brand later provide a LOA? How do brands verify the authenticity of a seller's products?
I appreciate any insights or advice you can provide to help me navigate these aspects of Amazon selling. Thank you in advance for your expertise!

1. Wholesaling and Private Label Simultaneously: I currently sell products under a Private Label on Amazon and is it possible to engage in both wholesale and private label selling simultaneously on the same Amazon account? Do I need any specific approvals or documentation for this?
Not a good idea. It is betted to offer a discount on a multiple purchase. If you sell wholesale, you want to sell to retailers who will purchase your product for sale in their retail store. As soon as they find out that YOU, the Manufacturer, are selling the same item and are competing with them, they will never buy from you again.
2. Wholesale Module and Brand Approval: I have noticed some products that appear unrestricted by Amazon and do not require brand approval. Correct. Your product must be yours. It will have your brand name on it, your brand name on the packaging. Have all COC's necessary in your brand name showing it's product safety. and contain GS1 UPC's issued for the product in your brand's name.
3. Supplier Authentication: Many suppliers seem to offer a wide range of brand products. How can I verify the authenticity of these suppliers, especially when they offer products from numerous brands? What questions should I ask to ensure I'm working with legitimate suppliers?
Well, you are a business and have a business license. Real wholesalers and manufacturers will not let you in their door without a business license, Tax Id number, which is used to open a credit account with them.
4. Is there any list or sources where I can find authentic suppliers/distributors from?
No. Sellers will not tell you their sources, why would they want too, so you could be their competitor? But I will tell you where Amazon shops, Macys shops, 1000's of Amazon sellers shop, and I shop. It is at the ASD Trade show in Las Vegas, February 2024. Look it up on line. Hundreds of manufacturers display theyr offering millions of products to sell. The beauty is this, no one seller, retailer, or Amazon can sell everything. Thus, there is always room for one more.
BUT..... The admission to the weel long show is showing your business license to get inside. Then it works just like #3 above.
Invoices and LOA: I've seen instances where sellers list a product, provide Amazon with invoices upon request, and then Amazon asks for a Letter of Authorization (LOA) from the brand.
Amazon knows what an invoice includes. An invoice is used when Your business has a retail commercial credit account with the manufacturer. Most all included.
- YOUR: business name, business address, business phone, sales tax exempt number, your EIN number, your credit line, terms of sale
- MANUFACTURER’S: address, phone, EIN number, account Rep’s name
- PRODUCT’S: quantity, SKU-Model number,
- DISCOUNTS PROCESSES ON THIS PURHASE: quanity, sale, specials
- TERMS OF SHIPPING: method, who pays, company used, tracking number
Some have more, and some have less, but they all use the same basic format. Even when you call and make a small online order and pay by credit card, an invoice is still sent to you separately containing all of the above.
If you purchased the items from a distributor using cash and carry, or on-line with a credit card, you are not buying from the manufacturer.

Letters of Authorizations, the trick request by Amazon.
Did you notice that Amazon always asks for a manufacturer’s invoice first, then asks for/or a letter of authorization? Amazon knows how businesses are operated.
If you have a commercial retailers account with a manufacturer, your invoice as described above will suffice. You will not need a Letter of Authorization because the invoice says it all. If you really need one, your manufacturer Rep handling your account could get one for you.
If you do not actually have a commercial account with the manufacturer, Amazon knows companies will not give any letter of authorization to individuals without an account.
