Adding an offer to an existing generic product ASIN

I want to sell a generic kitchenware product on an existing ASIN (brand name on ASIN is generic). I have found the product from a manufacturer and on the packaging, it does have a brand name which I've never heard of before, I think it's just the sake of the packaging as it can't just be plain. The product itself is completely plain with no branding at all on it, it is generic. Could I get in trouble for selling on a listing for a generic item if the product packaging has a brand name on it? Any help would be really appreciated, thanks!

In theory, you shouldn't be able to setup on an existing Generic listing. See here

In addition, if the product has a brand name on it - that is what you should list as.
