Using RM for very small business

My account is currently suspended due to 0% VTR, but I want to continue using RM stamps and/or online postage but I can’t see how to do this, as I don’t ship enough p.w. to get a RM business account. What can I do?

Your easiest would be to use Amazon’s Buy Shipping - then Amazon upload all the shipping info, and you will not have any issues with VTR at all as they will validate all your shipments.
You cannot use stamps anymore, and if you use RM online, the prices are the same as Buy Shipping.

I am guessing you will need to do a POA to get your account reactivated ?, so if you tell them you will use Buy Shipping then all should be good.

You probably still can get a RM business account. They don’t really check that closely as to the requirements and it’s only a case of applying for it.
Bearing in mind, that you can apply, with a forecast of your postage needs.

But if the majority of what your sending, is letters, then you have no option anyway, but to buy your postage through Amazon.

You can use your stamps for Signed For service ( pay partly or full postage with stamps). The only problem with this way is not getting delivery confirmation sometimes ( some postmen are too lazy to knock on doors and ask for a signature). That will work against you. But that happens not so often.

I do about 20% of my business on amazon, but it gives me 90% of the grief. Like they inexplicably withheld more than £100 of my revenue last year, without explanation, and I can’t seem to get it back. I hear the camel’s back giving way.

TBH I was in a similar situation a while back, I used to use PPI labels, which meant all I had to do was tell RM what quantites of items I was posting in what Size/Weight Band stick a label onto it (similar idea to a stamp, tbh even easier because I didn’t even need to work out how many stamps or what value to put on, it was literally my account number and the service (1st class or 2nd class) on a label)

Then they (Royal Mail) decided that they wanted everything to have QR codes, and that meant I had to enter weights and bands etc onto the label before I printed it, it felt like a whole drawn out affair that I was annoyed at having to do,.

Honestly it wasn’t as bad as I thought, I can fire the labels out in no time now, once I put the weight in for a sku once it remembers, and I just print them out in batches of 10 (for my own convenience).

Granted I used a 3rd party program and not buy shipping, but Click and Drop/Buy Shipping works the exact same way. My orders are all dispatched automatically and all tracking/delivery confirmation numbers are applied automatically to the relevant orders without me having to do a thing

In a couple of days you’ll be flying them wondering what the problem was and why you were so reluctant to change, especially if you were hand writing labels! This way might even be faster for you! You won’t have to worry about making a mistake, or look up and down from the monitor to the label over and over to copy names, and if your customers are anything like mine, some of their addresses are like a flipping essay!

You might find that you start to use Click and Drop for your other orders not on Amazon

Not sure why you think you wouldn’t get a business account with RM. I have one!

So I decided to use RM click & drop. But to integrate it with Amazon, I need to switch to a professional account. I am wondering if there is a downside to that? (I understood that to get a business account with RM I needed to send >20 items per week, which I don’t except in hight summer.)

I’m just overwhelmed by all the different possibilities and their advantages and disadvantages, costs, snags etc. I have filled in a form for Buy Shipping too, but I haven’t had an answer yet. As you all seem to think that’s best for me, I’ll probably go with that.
