Assigning an EAN and UPC to the same ASIN
We have multiple ASINs that we have been selling on Amazon for several years thate between them have thousands of reviews and high ratings ratings. When we originally set up these ASINs, we utilized GS1 assigned EANs as the GTINs. We now want to sell these same ASINs with GS1 assigned UPCs as the GTIN instead of EANs. We are struggling to figure out how to assign the UPCs to the ASINs so that both the EAN and UPC for each ASIN are recognized GTINs for each item. There must be a solution to this as ASINs sold in the EU utilize EANs and the same ASINs in the USA utilize UPCs. I would welcome any insight into how we can accomplish this. Michelle at Amazon here. I understand that you would like to add your UPC's to your products that previously had GTIN's. You can try to create new ASIN's and try to merge them as duplicate products as I discussed in this post. One of the things you will need to consider is that the products will then have 2 barcodes linked in our system and this will require you to have to sticker any items that you send to FBA with an FNSKU sticker and your items will not longer be eligible to be commingled. This will also require you to create a new SKU for each of your FBA offers if they were created as commingled offers as there is no way to change them either.
So to answer your question, can adding the UPC be done? The answer is yes, as long as all the information on your new ASIN matches exactly, however, it will cause issues with any previously commingled FBA inventory.
