GTIN Exemption Error

I have just started on amazon a month ago and I am still struggling to input my products with a gtin exemption. I get an error every time I input "generic" and no product ID even though it says i am approved for a gtin exemption. The amazon seller central is not helping whatsoever and just sending me old videos that don't even explain how the gtin exemption works now. I believe this issue is on amazons side and its not being fixed with seller central copying and pasting templates that aren't any help.

Does anyone have any tips or know how to get their generic/ nonbranded product through with a gtin exemption?

1. Remember, it costs no more to fail in online retail sales as it does to succeed in online retail sales. The difference is how much knowledge you possess to put forth in your endeavors at hand.

2. Do you know how retailers work with manufacturers? The products you are talking about are made specifically with no brand name on them, (Generic). They are made for retail stores, like you, to purchase and place their own name/brand on them. This can either be done at the factory or done in your own place of business.

3. Selling a product and using the word Generic as a brand is rather foolish. Generic is not a brand, it is a word that means similar to the real thing, but not the real thing. Now what does that say about your product. It tells the buyer your product is not the real thing but a copy or knockoff. Sort of a poor way to start a business.

4. Now even amazon knows how this works. Amazon owns 100+ brand names it uses to sell on the site. These products are actually the same Generic products that other sellers are selling with Generic as the name. Amazon uses this to increase their sales in this way.

A potential buyer sees all the generic offerings, but one is brand named, Premier Italian Leather with richly detailed photos. (now of course the name has nothing to do with where the individual product is made) Buyers look at all the similar products and select the one which costs a little more because of the name. Amazon just caught another fish in the big pool of buyers.

Maybe Amazon thinks it is time for you to do the same.
