Hello , I am a new seller and trying to list a product that I have made do i need an external ID , the product category will be home ,,, if i do need an external Id ,where d I get it . thank you in anticipation..

External ID is a barcode. If the product has a barcode - that is what you use. If you want a barcode - you'll need a GS1 account.
Alternatively, you can apply for GTIN Exemption - just search in the Seller Central search bar for instructions.

Are you wanting to sell in the Handmade category ?
As above reply, you either need to buy barcodes from GS1 (these are the only ones Amazon will accept) , or apply for GTIN exemption.
