Urgent Attention Needed: Sales Decline due to Amazon's New Regional Discoverability Policy

Dear Sellers,

I hope this message finds you well. I write to you today with grave concerns regarding the recent downturn in sales on Amazon. Despite substantial investments in advertising, sales have plummeted, and in some cases, orders have ceased altogether. As a seasoned seller of over five years, I have never experienced such dismal sales figures.

The root of our current dilemma appears to stem from Amazon's implementation of a new Regional Discoverability Policy. Under this policy, our listings are being suppressed, denying us crucial visibility to potential buyers. What's more troubling is Amazon's apparent coercion tactics, pushing sellers towards utilizing their FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) service.

Many of us operate on razor-thin profit margins due to the cutthroat nature of the market. Opting for FBA would only exacerbate our financial woes, potentially leading to losses rather than profits. It should be at the discretion of the buyer whether they prefer expedited or delayed delivery, yet Amazon's insistence on FBA for visibility is both unjust and, in my view, potentially illegal.

In light of these circumstances, I am contemplating a transition away from Amazon to alternative platforms and establishing our own e-commerce website. Additionally, I am considering pursuing legal action against Amazon for their unfair practices.

I'm keen to hear your thoughts and insights on this matter. Please share your perspectives and any actions you're considering in response to these challenges we face as sellers.

Best regards,

Fellow Seller

I do not suggest you taking legal actions aganst Amazon.

We also operate from past many years and found that Amazon is a consumer and seller centric company. Present your case properly to them.

Sometimes, these kind of policies take some time from them to correct but eventually they do correct it.

We found approaching to amit agarwal through email amit at amazon dot com helpful in such times.

It is also recommended to refresh your portfolio with new products where you can command some premium.

We also do not sell through FBA not just because of profit issues but more because we feel we can better control quality before dispacth than FBA staff as we want top class feedbacks and reviews from our customers.

Try to add guaranteed delivery prime service to your account.

Best wishes

I agree Regional Discoverability Policy is not correct it is opposite of Amazon promise. Amazon onboarded us with a promise to get us access to each corner or India. We were already doing good in our own region. Restricting us to our region is not helping us grow our business.

The Regional Discoverability Policy contradicts Amazon's promise to provide access to every corner of India. It's hindering rather than helping our business grow, especially when we were already performing well in our region. This policy needs reconsideration.

I agree. If there is any collective action that can be organized, it will be appreciated. There is no point in just posting on forums like this as it doesn't render a solution. If Amazon's Regional Policy continues then all small and medium sellers will be pushed out.

Dear Fellow Seller,

I completely understand your concerns regarding the recent sales decline on Amazon. It's indeed alarming to witness such a significant downturn despite our efforts in advertising and maintaining our presence on the platform.

The implementation of Amazon's new Regional Discoverability Policy has undoubtedly impacted many of us adversely. The suppression of listings and the push towards utilizing FBA has created a challenging environment for sellers, especially those of us who rely on maintaining control over our fulfillment processes to manage costs effectively.

Like you, I'm deeply troubled by the coercion tactics employed by Amazon and their insistence on FBA for visibility. It seems unfair and potentially detrimental to our businesses, especially considering the thin profit margins many of us operate within.

I appreciate your contemplation of transitioning away from Amazon to alternative platforms and establishing your own e-commerce website. It's a decision I've been considering as well, given the current circumstances.

Regarding legal action against Amazon, it's certainly a route worth exploring, although I must admit, it's a daunting prospect. However, if it means standing up for our rights as sellers and challenging unjust practices, it might be necessary.

In the meantime, I'm exploring strategies to mitigate the impact of the Regional Discoverability Policy on my sales, including optimizing keywords and exploring alternative advertising channels. It's a challenging time, but I believe we can navigate through it together by sharing insights and supporting each other.

Thank you for reaching out and initiating this discussion. Your determination to address these challenges head-on is commendable, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with fellow sellers like yourself.

Yes it is unjust on the part of sellers . As a business partner, Amazon should come forward with an explanation regarding suppression of visibility with a POLICY UPDATE. By doing such shady stuff, it is forcing sellers to migrate to other platforms . this is a serious issue as, for years , Amazon has built business on the back of string network of amazon sellers . A Transparent action is needed by AMAZON in the interest of seller fraternity.
