It has to be a CREDIT card, not a debit.

Amazon states in places "Credit or Debit", but other places specify "Credit", and the evidence indicates that indeed a true CREDIT card is often required.

All card requirements are posted in this page. If your card is declined, please contact your banking institution directly. Sometimes certain banks place holds on new merchant charges.
